It was fantastic to see lots of parents at our SEND drop in - Autism is my Superpower! Whilst some enjoyed tea, coffee and biscuits, information was shared about Autism and places they could find support from. We had a visit from the project manager for the Autism team at Child Action North West (CANW), who was very insightful when advising parents on how to move forward with any concerns or worries. The children also had lots of fun getting stuck in to activities that helped them with various needs including social communication and sensory! A wonderful afternoon.
"It was really good to sit and listen and do different things that we can do at home together." (parent voice)
"I'm so happy to be able to see the different ways my child is supported in school, it puts my mind at ease." (parent voice )
"I didn't think I'd like it, but I love it all over my hands! I like the smell too!" (child voice)
Another wonderful afternoon with parents and children at our SEND drop in - ADHD, learning more about ADHD , how it is supported in school and how it can be supported at home. A big thank you to Helen, from ADHD North West for coming in and helping parents refer in to their service and also signposting support for others. The children particularly enjoyed the movement activities, challenging themselves and competing against their siblings! Parents chatted to each other and found lots of similarities between their children at home, especially the bedtime struggle!
"The parent packs are really appreciated." (parent voice)
"Helen was so helpful and answered lots of questions for me." (parent voice)
"Can we do these at home too?!" (child voice)

SEND and Inclusion at Woodnook
Our school Inclusion Manager (SENCo) is Mrs. O’Hare.
The SENCo regularly reviews the progress and attainment of all children. Identification of a particular need may come from these reviews and/or discussions with class teachers and/or parents.
Each class benefits from a teaching assistant to support children and help to break down any barriers to learning.
The SENCo works closely with teachers, parents and other agencies in order to ensure that all pupils are able to successfully access the curriculum. A variety of techniques and programmes of intervention are used to support children who have a range of abilities, interests, beliefs and aspirations.
The school nurse team are available to support and train staff for any specific medical need. All TAs/support staff have received first aid training.
